INCUBATION

CUSAT TBI promotes the concept of growth through innovations and applications of technology, support, economic development strategies for Small Business Development.

CUSAT is the first state university in Kerala to establish a Technology Business Incubator with a grant of Rs.1 Crore from the Government of Kerala. CUSAT has been offering incubation support to startups through CITTIC to students and has expanded its operations through RUSA Innovation Startup Ecosystem (RISE) from 2021. RISE has expanded further by an addition of 10000 sq. ft. of space through the Vertical Extension at Students Amenity Centre in the CUSAT Campus with financial support from RUSA. There are more than 150 startups functioning out of CUSAT TBIs in varied domains such as electronic hardware, Bio Technology, Marine Science, Polymer and Software applications. This facility provides the best of infrastructural facilities for startups and also help them grow making the best out of the facilities and resources available in the campus. A bio incubator and a mini FABLAB with necessary equipment and facilities is also operational under CUSAT TBI. CUSAT has become the first state university to permit its faculty members to start their own startups in their research domains. The CUSAT Faculty Startup policy, modelled on MHRD guidelines and premier IITs in the country, will give a big boost to the university centric startup ecosystem motivating teachers and research scholars to convert their research work into useful products and services. CUSAT offers a startup grant aimed at assisting students, teachers, and researchers in turning their innovative ideas into fully developed ventures. This fund, established with financial backing from RUSA, is managed by the CUSATECH FOUNDATION.
